K&N Brass, Adelaide’s only A Grade Brass Band, is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified musicians to take on the role of Principal Cornet, leading the band through an exciting period of growth and development.
We are looking for someone with a passion for brass bands and with demonstrated high-level playing experience, preferably including with a brass band.
As the Principal Cornet, we will be looking for you to carry out the following duties:
Interested players are asked to send their music CV and a short statement outlining why they are applying and addressing the dot points above.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to undertake a short trial with the band, which may include a solo performance.

- Be available to attend the majority of weekly rehearsals and performances, which may include additional rehearsals and sectionals in the lead-up to contests as required. Rehearsals are held each Thursday from 7:45pm – 9:45pm at 31 Beulah Road Norwood.
- Lead the cornet section (including soprano and flugel) in a professional and empathetic manner, providing guidance and leadership on technique, style and sound
- Assist the conductor in seating the section for contests and concerts as required
- Work collaboratively with other section leaders in developing a cooperative and cohesive band
- Perform as soloist within chosen repertoire, which may include feature items with band accompaniment
